Dong Zhongshu’s Five Elements Discussion and Neutralization

In modern academic tradition, in addition to being connected with the unique Confucianism, Dong Zhongshu’s name is generally linked to the concept of unity between man and nature. Therefore, many problems in Han Dynasty and philosophy cannot be deeply understood. In recent years, some very profound research has appeared on the thoughts and texts of Dong Zhongshu’s important work “The Years and the Dew”.
In Dong Zhongshu’s “Age Fanlu”, the text of age and the five elements of yin and yang account for half of each, which is a very noteworthy phenomenon. Teacher Yu Zhiping’s “Only Heaven is the Great” and “Dong Zi’s Eternal Law and Law Study” discuss these two aspects, which have a major impact on subsequent research and discussions. However, the author believes that the integration of the principles of the five elements of the Yin-Yang system is the philosophical foundation of Dong Zhongshu’s study. Although there have been many researches, there is still a need to understand it in this, especially the neutralization discussion.
1. The origin of the five elements of the yin and yang

Since Liang Qichao and the second teacher of Guardian, the second teacher, criticizing the five elements of Yin Yang [1], it is difficult for Chinese students to understand the heavenly path through the five elements of Yin Yang. However, even the two teachers, Liang and Gumi, did not avoid the position of the five elements of the Yin and Yang in Chinese thinking. Since Liang Rengong was cleared, there was no profound philosophical thinking in the five elements of the Yin Yang. Modern scholars rarely explored the problems of the Yin Yang Five Elements from a philosophical perspective, except for the two teachers, Zheng Zhiren [5] and Yang Ru and Feng [6] of Taiwan, but modern scholars rarely discussed the problems of the Yin Yang Five Elements from a philosophical perspective. However, after several generations of students’ examinations and sorting tasks, the origin of the five elements of the yin and yang has been well understood. Because scholars from abroad do not trust the early release of many texts in Shangshu, they think it is a work after the war. They will think that the five-star divination in Zuozhi is earlier. Therefore, many students believe that astrology is the source of the five elements, or believe that Zheng Yan played a key role in the establishment of the five elements of the Yin Yang. [7] However, in recent years, research and discussions are increasingly becoming more and more aware that many of the texts in the current text “Shangshu” are not as late as those of ordinary Chinese students think. The visual teaching in “Shangshu·Liu Dian” is one of the sources of the five elements. Teachers Liang Qichao and Zhu Keling have begun to discuss the writing of “The Legend of the Confucian” based on the age difference. Recently, Teachers have conducted detailed discussions on the geography and mortal phenomena appearing in the paragraph of “The Legend of the Confucian”, and compared the celestial phenomena in the geographic copper instruments in the Erlitai site. They believe that the differences between the geographical phenomena in “The Legend of the Confucian” and the celestial phenomena in the later period of the war recorded in “The Legend of the Confucian Age·Twelve Sections” should not be considered as works of the war, but rather the geographical phenomena before the Western Zhou Dynasty. [8] Teacher Rong also pointed out that the year and month of geography measurement are not necessarily the same as the year and month of writing. But without a late-stage text record, people in the warring world would not be able to record such early celestial phenomena directly. Teacher Huang Xin, compared the image teaching of “The Legend” with similar words in oracle bone inscriptions and “Shan Hai Jing”, believed that the latter was influenced by “The Legend” rather than “The Legend” was influenced by the latter. 年年年 Therefore, “The Legend” was at the latest in the mid-Shang Dynasty. Teacher Huang’s examinations eliminated many old achievements, which greatly helped the reading of “The Legend”. [9] Teacher Li Shan compared the words and sentences of “The Legend of the Conscription” and “The Psychic”, “The Psychic” and unearthed bronze inscriptions, and believed that this article was a work in the mid-Supreme Zhou Dynasty. [10] The author believes that the discussions of these teachers and teachers are quite convincing. The combination of them is enough to prove that “The Legend” failed to appear in the war of age, and it was a work in the middle of the Western Zhou Dynasty at the end of the evening.
